<div style="text-align: center;">
where I am learning about proportion and tone...and that hand-eye-brain co-ordination is, well, challenging!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
can see lots of room for improvements, but when I haven't done this for a long time, I feel it is better to STOP earlier, rather than later. I don't want to kill my enthusiasm or get totally hung up in a kind of perfection I'm not aiming at, actually.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did actually take three photos and after the first and second I dashed back to the drawing and thought I was correcting the tonal value each time, which I was, but not nearly enough to be accurate.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did learn that viewing the drawing through the camera helped me to see the tone much better. Like that little trick of squinting and looking at the subject through the eyelashes - it somehow cuts out colour and allows the brain/eye to perceive black and white/grey tones - very useful. Although, I have to say I forgot about that completely until I was looking through the camera.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Good fun!</div>

I've been reading lots about creativity and motivation, talking lots about how to get started, visiting shows and openings, talking to artists -heck I've even attracted artists for close friends and neighbours (!!) and everything I read or hear seems to say the same stuff to me - only I can do this, only I can choose it, only I can want it enough to make it happen. And if I practise it daily, or as near to as I can, then magic will happen...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's to magic and making a daily practise of creating seriously happen...</div>

I've remembered again, today. In fact, I woke up thinking about moss and concrete!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjaM1GkZzyZ1VfJgTvnFLTpg7qjU7Q6xfNkLgqUK70z5PrQIrQNAfBXDuxi9Icq7CW85U26VmBPQpLby3paPKspp667xI4X2y_2kYAQtUIfLsyuVP6d9QfCUL2MaM8yLjSFUwFBidYdoX2/s1600/microlandscapeI.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjaM1GkZzyZ1VfJgTvnFLTpg7qjU7Q6xfNkLgqUK70z5PrQIrQNAfBXDuxi9Icq7CW85U26VmBPQpLby3paPKspp667xI4X2y_2kYAQtUIfLsyuVP6d9QfCUL2MaM8yLjSFUwFBidYdoX2/s1600/microlandscapeI.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At first glance - that is if noticing something like this is even on the radar for many busy humans - there's just a bit of inconvenient weedy-looking stuff happening in the driveway/path, RIGHT? (I think that's what most humans might conclude of the above growth).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmBgvwz8JZBB4URg-fuI02VBGGVXH9d7gdJ5p_7Pfxoq65EY2MNSWukIfV98L0zLw2WByb7d21MU7HpJ97pxutHeML70BY8KYv0WbUrXVTvQ6ikqWfCNGOKH-d_BgzW05w9Semw4hceP0H/s1600/microlandscapeII.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmBgvwz8JZBB4URg-fuI02VBGGVXH9d7gdJ5p_7Pfxoq65EY2MNSWukIfV98L0zLw2WByb7d21MU7HpJ97pxutHeML70BY8KYv0WbUrXVTvQ6ikqWfCNGOKH-d_BgzW05w9Semw4hceP0H/s1600/microlandscapeII.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Looking closer wonderment takes over upon the discovery of a miniature landscape - fully operational - the Earth is literally installing a nature strip in the middle of the driveway - tiny blade of grass by tiny blade of grass. Just look at that miraculous little thread of sap green-coloured moss bordering the concrete.</div>
<br /><div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt6tZcvalXfDpJg_xztsuw0c9WNk1645uN2NAhKe1PMxSE84u3cjJHcZEDHpgguclnBx_6gWR5ujptuFlJPjW7hnIKRcpDb1HXb4_zV0TjkNnD1o8pYZYOwtf-UVDivdLzrtmLuQ42oTQ4/s1600/microlandscapeIV.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt6tZcvalXfDpJg_xztsuw0c9WNk1645uN2NAhKe1PMxSE84u3cjJHcZEDHpgguclnBx_6gWR5ujptuFlJPjW7hnIKRcpDb1HXb4_zV0TjkNnD1o8pYZYOwtf-UVDivdLzrtmLuQ42oTQ4/s1600/microlandscapeIV.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Like an island of green in a sea of grey...two of my favourite colours, by the way. And what is an island actively doing? Why <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humus#Humification" target="_blank">making humus</a>, or soil - enough so to grow some grass.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJvdz2eIpoe89hHSIQqPXW6hV-8TYCDMIIKQQ70KUQ9toSZqX_Kpe8EcYSb7HLQVjcrSQXMYmooUP79ohmt8gd1FDePTfXkEiOYLkXJkR8mVP4g75Lx0dYf7ZE8sNLyO2ThkfuI_dr3t-/s1600/microlandscapeV.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJvdz2eIpoe89hHSIQqPXW6hV-8TYCDMIIKQQ70KUQ9toSZqX_Kpe8EcYSb7HLQVjcrSQXMYmooUP79ohmt8gd1FDePTfXkEiOYLkXJkR8mVP4g75Lx0dYf7ZE8sNLyO2ThkfuI_dr3t-/s1600/microlandscapeV.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Such hope can be perceived in the stalwart strength of the organism that strikes out and colonises...CONCRETE! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
what these images represent is inspiring for me today - how about you? </div>

This is slightly cheating, already, I know! I actually FORGOT to post an inspiring picture yesterday - the very first day...speaks volumes to me and I'm listening.<br />
<br />
AM took this picture a few weeks ago - it is on High St, near C1 cafe. The artist is <a href="http://www.gapfiller.org.nz/faux-arcadia/" target="_blank">Michaela Cox, of Christchurch and it is part of her "Faux Arcadia"</a> series - 10 works all hung in the city.<br />
<br />
There is much art on the many, shall we say, bald? or naked? surfaces left by the surreal change in landscape here in Christchurch, due to the devastating effect of the earthquakes. We felt shocked to look at the extent of the damage when we first arrived here - it could be described as a sort of apocalyptic scene. So many desolate sites where previously life thrived.<br />
<br />
I find the street art in such a place to have a powerful effect - it contrasts so sharply with the broken/empty/raw/disordered feel that is evident where EVER one turns. The art reaches out and invites the viewer to rest eyes on something beautiful. I feel it speaks of hope and possibility...inspiring perhaps.wendywildflowerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024111076528664811noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5843309301542170201.post-15726709012573879452014-04-22T19:59:00.000+12:002014-04-24T18:46:26.189+12:00:: inspiration ::<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We can say with a high level of certainty that we will have our own home again in a few weeks. YES!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For months the search for the new abode has consumed my thoughts and this evening I felt the massive surge of relief - I am cancerian, you know - it matters A LOT for me this having my own nest stuff.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Almost the same instant I realised I suddenly have the space for art again - wonderful.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
oh - and to blog again a little bit...!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI0VzWW3f9tQnHtpecPR5skmfCX70sB5Q-t0VRv9oAIzmkBlIbt9cMMpW8AKv9aHvEOvkzaECYzCtlCVXQOv7J5rbBUGUiX6Ucmi8njcyylFcD1aHBMLD8fFZXk6vChBZ7wkvTLcGJimsu/s1600/mushrooms2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI0VzWW3f9tQnHtpecPR5skmfCX70sB5Q-t0VRv9oAIzmkBlIbt9cMMpW8AKv9aHvEOvkzaECYzCtlCVXQOv7J5rbBUGUiX6Ucmi8njcyylFcD1aHBMLD8fFZXk6vChBZ7wkvTLcGJimsu/s1600/mushrooms2.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, along with the news of the home, I have a challenge for myself, in order to get my inspiration juices flowing again - to find one image each day to post that is inspiring to me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
what is inspiring for you?</div>

<b>"L.O.V.E." in driftwood on the dune</b> has been in existence for over two months now, with only the occasional need to repair. It can been seen from the road, is made of natural material and is over a metre and a half tall. I smile when I see it and I hope others do, too.</div>

As well as Spring heralding all kinds of wonderful outdoor activities, I have been working away at an assignment for my Course in Rudolf Steiner Education. </div>

On our way home from milking a neighbour's beautiful Dexter cow, Lady, in our very pre-loved farm vehicle (old truck!), chattering excitedly, making plans for the rest of the day, we rumble along the gravel road past this ditch (or culvert is the correct term, I think), running gently alongside, shaded by tall, bare poplars...just quietly, serenely doing its own thing.<br />
<br />
There was occasion to stop beside it last week and I could observe for a few moments.<br />
<br />
For me, it is enchantingly special and soooo inspiring...the bands of colour harmoniously sitting side by side; the texture of the mosses and tiny grasses, stones, twigs, leaves earth, pondweed; the glassy-smooth plane of the slip of visible water reflecting harshly in just that minute window/mirror the world outside of this mini-cosmos.<br />
<br />
A little inspiration to help me along the way.<br />
<br />
What things are inspiring to you?wendywildflowerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024111076528664811noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5843309301542170201.post-50967070967747599952012-08-01T16:29:00.001+12:002012-08-01T16:29:18.654+12:00when life is artis the best frame I have for so far showing nothing tangible that I can blog about presently.<br />
<br />
When I cast my mind back over the time since I last posted, I realise that I have indeed been creating a solid foundation for the new life we have here at Possum Bend.<br />
<br />
I have attended two block courses for my Course in Rudolf Steiner Education (CRSE) in charming Havelock North, completed my first assignment, begun a crochet blanket for Phoebe's birthday this year (don't whisper a word!) using the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/african-flower-hexagon-crochet-tutorial" target="_blank">African Flower hexagon</a>, woven baskets from the packing material our furniture arrived in, made an 'Easter' EGG - out of grape vine prunings which hangs out on our deck, had a family holiday in Thailand, helped with a sick Grandmother, made the most of our Autumn Harvest, gardened in the gaps between the downpours and woven in Phoebe's education!<br />
<br />
I am looking forward to finding some moments to post again soon...wendywildflowerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024111076528664811noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5843309301542170201.post-43604535191553022962012-03-24T23:17:00.000+13:002012-03-24T23:17:03.416+13:00new moon in ariesand what a good time to begin a new initiative...<br />
...last year I studied the Certificate III Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft at Byron Bay Regional Comminity College, Mullumbimby, NSW, Australia, and was inspired by the many ways I found art beginning to touch me. I spent a dedicated year turning over rock after rock and finding much I'm wanting to investigate further. <br />
...this year I am now in Northern Hawke's Bay, NZ, on a tiny farmlet, just us, no college down the road, no village of people all around...now we have cows and sheep and possums and fantails and kereru for company. This year I've chosen to study the Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education part-time as a support to my development as a home educator to our young daughter.<br />
I intend to post my art life here.wendywildflowerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024111076528664811noreply@blogger.com2
